Sunkill

Description

The sunkill attack sends garbage (end of file characters) to the telnet port. The result is that Solaris starts eating excessive amounts of memory and slows down.

Affected Systems

Atleast following systems are vulnerable to the attack.

Fix

Sun has not released fix to the problem. A work-around is to close the telnet port in a firewall or disable telnet daemon in inetd.conf file.
